☰ PLEASE EXPLAIN FAST DRIVING VERSUS SMART DRIVING
Yes, all records during the Sub-Zero Race are about who reaches the finish line first, but it's not a road race. It's all about the challenge itself, in a safe setting. You also don't achieve a record by breaking all speed limits but by driving smartly. Choose the most intelligent route, charge efficiently and select the best available charging stations along the way. All participants receive tracker devices where the organization can monitor if the maximum speed is being maintained. If a team exceeds the allowed speed multiple times and for a prolonged duration, it will be disqualified and no longer eligible for ranking.

☰ WHY DRIVING IN THE WINTER
Notice the part 'Sub-Zero' in our name. Northern Europe can still count on harsh winters, conditions that can effect the performance of your EV. Possible set backs that makes you work but mainly think harder to finish at the North cape. We always seek the path of most resistance, I think we've found one.

☰ IS MY EV ALLOWED TO ENTER THE SUB-ZERO RACE
All EV brands are allowed in the Sub-Zero Race as long as they comply with the applicable laws and traffic regulations in Europe. If your EV has limited power and range, then the Sub-Zero Race is the right place for you. You may not win the overall prize, but you can certainly claim a record in your power class and model. Claim the record and become the proud holder of the E-record in your class.

☰ HOW MANY TEAM MEMBERS CAN ENTER
Each team consists of at least 2 drivers. This is because you will likely be driving day and night for your record attempt, and it's important to be able to switch drivers. It is also possible to expand your team with a 3rd and 4th driver.

☰ WHAT COVERS THE ENTRANCE FEE
Your spot in the very first Sub-Zero Race is secured by signing up online, thereby automatically agreeing to the terms and conditions. Plus paying the registration fee due for your team. Once you've completed these steps, here's what you'll receive in return: an official starting position and corresponding car stickers, original gear, organization of the entire event, particularly the start and finish events. Also included is the time registration system, which includes devices in your EV and equipment on location. Accomodation at the finish location for two nights so you can make in all ease plans for your return journey South. Validation of your registered time by a sworn official. An official SZR certificate, including your time and position in the ranking. Your achievements will be recorded in our system and remain valid until they are surpassed in subsequent editions. Once you're an official participant, your results will be published on the official website.

☰ YOUR START AT AMSTERDAM
The start will take place in Amsterdam using a unique system. Every 3 minutes, a team will depart, and the official start time will be recorded. All teams are expected to arrive on time, and in case of dropout, a new starting slot can be assigned to your team.

☰ YOUR TIME WINDOW TO FINISH AT THE NORTH CAPE
The finish at the North Cape will open no later than 30 hours after the official start of the first team. If necessary, based on the monitored progress of the teams, the finish will be opened earlier. From the moment the finish opens, official time registration at the North Cape begins. The finish will be open and staffed day and night from that moment onward. The finish will close 72 hours after the official start of the first team or if the last team finishes earlier. The maximum opening time of the finish is based on continuous driving day and night and an EV with low power.

☰ WHEN IS MY ACCOMODATION AT THE FINISH AVAILABLE
The registration fee includes two nights of accommodation after you've finished. Now, you understand that we can't book hotel rooms indefinitely, so we agree with each team on which dates we need to reserve the hotel room. If you don't make it, this means that you can only stay in the hotel room reserved for you for one night or none at all.

☰ WHICH ROUTE WILL WE FOLLOW
That's the best part of this challenge; the best route is your route. After the start, your team is completely free to determine and check off your smartest and fastest EV route. It's important to know that we have some important rules, and breaking them will result in disqualification. This means not letting your EV be towed or transported improperly in any way. No more juice means you're out of the race. Another crucial rule is not exceeding the legal speed limit. This is not a road race, far from. Your car will be equipped with a tracking device to monitor your speed. Dangerous driving behavior can also lead to disqualification. Another important rule is to avoid any fossil-fueled means of transportation. This includes ferries. If you board a ferry or transport your car for any part of the route, your team is out.

☰ WHICH ACCOMODATIONS DO WE SLEEP DURING OUR RECORD ATTEMPT
It is entirely up to the team and its own responsibility whether, when, and where the team stays overnight. If you decide to stay overnight on the way, you must arrange this entirely on your own. At the finish, we have booked accommodation based on the estimated duration of your journey that you provided prior to the start.

☰ WHAT IF MY TEAM BREAKS DOWN
Is there support available during my record attempt? Since everyone is mapping out their own smart route to reach the cape as quickly as possible, it's practically impossible to provide support along the way. If you drop out, it's part of the game, and you'll have to ensure you can continue on your own.

☰ FOR WHAT PERIOD DOES MY RECORD/RANKING LAST
Your record stands as long as another team in the overall or your specific class sets a better and thus smarter time. It's possible that you'll remain the record holder in your ranking for years. If your record is broken, you can always attempt to reclaim it the following year. In any case, you can participate each year to clock an improved record in your ranking. For instance, if you're third in the ranking in your classification, your ranking will fluctuate as better time registrations are set. Either way, you can always consult these dynamic ranking lists per classification online on the official website of the Sub-Zero Race.

☰ CAN I MODIFY MY CAR
If you wish to compete for a title, you must participate with a factory-spec model. You are not allowed to make modifications to save weight, such as removing a rear seat or spare wheel. If you attempt to bend the rules in any way, you can still participate, but you will be disqualified from a record attempt, certificate, and official ranking. This will be checked at the start and finish. These rules do not apply to student teams in the 'open class'.

☰ HOW DO YOU REGISTER THE TIME OF EACH CAR
To register your time, electronic time registration systems will be used, which are linked to the vehicles. Participants EV's will be provided by a transponder that emits signals captured by sensors at the start and finish lines. This information is then collected and processed by a central registration system, after which the time registration is reviewed and validated by a sworn notary or another designated authority. Beside this system each EV will carry a GPS tracker to register any overspeeding which can result in diskwalification.

☰ DO WE GET PROVE OF OUR PREFORMANCE
The complete time registration and approval of the registration systems will be supervised by a sworn notary. The notary will also validate and confirm the final finishing time and duration through the time certificate handed over to your team. Based on the time as determined, your team will receive an official position in the Sub-Zero Race - Amsterdam ranking.

☰ IS SUPPORT AVAILABLE DURING MY RECORD ATTEMPT
Since everyone is mapping out their own smart route to reach the cape as quickly as possible, it's practically impossible to provide support along the way. If you drop out, it's part of the game, and you'll have to ensure you can continue on your own.

☰ WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS AFTER I FINISHED AT THE NORTH CAPE
If your team hasn't stranded or been disqualified along the way and you've crossed the finish line at the North Cape, your record attempt is completed. From that moment on, you can relax in the hotel room reserved for you and then plan your return journey at your own discretion.

☰ IN WHICH CATEGORIES CAN I ESTABLISH A RECORD
In the categories 'brand', 'model' and 'power' you can establish a record. For each class you can go for the North Cape overall trophy or for the Arctic circle trophy.
